LPSP Compensation
As compensation for past damages to the
Great Lakes fishery. Consumers Energy gave 15,600 acres to
the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. This map shows
counties where MDNR property is located.

The Great Lakes Fishery Trust received
approximately 10,800 acres. All of the property was sold to
generate funds for GLFT grant projects. In seven of these
counties some or all of the property was sold to the U.S. Forestry Service
for inclusion in the Huron-Manistee National Forest.

To compensate
for lost angling opportunities as a result of the operation
of the LPSP the Settlement Agreement provides for the development
of angler access at several Detroit Edison facilities. Four
of these projects in Delray, Marysville, Harbor Beach, and
River Rouge have been completed.
