The GLFT’s Mission

The mission of the GLFT is to provide funding to enhance, protect, and rehabilitate Great Lakes fishery resources to compensate for lost use and enjoyment caused by the operation of the Ludington Pumped Storage Plant. We fulfill this mission by giving grants to organizations, institutions, and entities that share this mission.

Who Can Apply?

Organizations that are eligible to apply for GLFT grants include nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS (or nongovernmental organizations that hold charitable status in their country), as well as educational and governmental (including tribal) organizations.

What do you want to do to help us further our mission?

What’s Already Been Done

Information about all types of GLFT-funded projects can be found in our searchable grant database. Fishing access projects that are not included in this database, but were completed by Detroit Edison as a part of the Settlement Agreement that created the Great Lakes Fishery Trust, can be found here.
