En el lago Michigan, gran parte de la variaci\u00f3n en el reclutamiento y la abundancia de pescado blanco de lago parece ser diferente en las distintas poblaciones. Si las poblaciones de pescado blanco estuvieran m\u00e1s claramente delimitadas, los investigadores y los administradores podr\u00edan tener m\u00e1s opciones para la investigaci\u00f3n de la din\u00e1mica del reclutamiento y la gesti\u00f3n de poblaciones espec\u00edficas.<\/p>\n<p>Este proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n utiliz\u00f3 t\u00e9cnicas gen\u00f3micas para mejorar la comprensi\u00f3n de la estructura de la poblaci\u00f3n de pescado blanco de lago, al mismo tiempo que proporciona la base para una herramienta de genotipado m\u00e1s rentable. Los doctores Megan McPhee de la Universidad de Alaska-Fairbanks y Wes Larson de la Administraci\u00f3n Nacional Oce\u00e1nica y Atmosf\u00e9rica, junto con el investigador postdoctoral Yue Shi, dirigieron un equipo de investigaci\u00f3n que investig\u00f3 la estructura espacial en las poblaciones de pescado blanco de lago utilizando decenas de miles de marcadores gen\u00e9ticos e identificaron qu\u00e9 marcadores gen\u00e9ticos ten\u00edan el mayor poder estad\u00edstico para diferenciar las poblaciones de pescado blanco. Dise\u00f1aron un panel gen\u00e9tico para centrarse \u00fanicamente en los marcadores gen\u00e9ticos m\u00e1s informativos, que fue capaz de identificar la estructura de la poblaci\u00f3n a una escala m\u00e1s fina que la que se hizo evidente en estudios gen\u00e9ticos anteriores.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t<h3>Principales hallazgos<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Los peces blancos del lado noroeste del lago Michigan son gen\u00e9ticamente distintos de los del lado este.<\/li>\n<li>Los peces blancos del lado oriental del lago Michigan muestran un mayor nivel de estructura poblacional que los del lado occidental.<\/li>\n<li>Hay menos diferenciaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica que la informada anteriormente entre el pescado blanco del lado del lago Michigan de la pen\u00ednsula del condado de Door y el de Big Bay de Noc al noreste de la pen\u00ednsula.<\/li>\n<li>Hay dos grupos gen\u00e9ticos de pescado blanco en el noroeste del lago Michigan que parecen superponerse en Green Bay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Resultados significativos para la investigaci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n<p>Los resultados de este trabajo se est\u00e1n utilizando para genotipar muestras de poblaciones mixtas de pescado blanco del lago Michigan (con el Dr. Jared Homola de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Stevens Point), lo que podr\u00eda conducir a mejores modelos de captura por edad para la evaluaci\u00f3n de las poblaciones de pescado blanco del lago.
