Pourtant, les populations ont \u00e9t\u00e9 estim\u00e9es \u00e0 1 % des niveaux historiques en raison de multiples raisons d&#039;origine humaine telles que la surp\u00eache, la perte ou la d\u00e9gradation de l&#039;habitat et les obstacles \u00e0 un habitat appropri\u00e9 caus\u00e9s par les barrages. Par cons\u00e9quent, l&#039;esturgeon jaune est class\u00e9 comme esp\u00e8ce en voie de disparition ou menac\u00e9e dans 19 \u00c9tats am\u00e9ricains et comme esp\u00e8ce menac\u00e9e au Canada. La g\u00e9nomique de la conservation s&#039;av\u00e8re \u00eatre un outil pr\u00e9cieux pour les chercheurs et les gestionnaires des p\u00eaches d\u00e9sireux de g\u00e9rer et de r\u00e9glementer correctement la p\u00eache \u00e0 l&#039;esturgeon jaune dans les Grands Lacs. Cette \u00e9dition de <em>Notes de recherche<\/em> met en \u00e9vidence les contributions \u00e0 la recherche sur l\u2019esturgeon de lac soutenues par le Great Lakes Fishery Trust.<\/p>\n<p>De 2015 \u00e0 2019, une \u00e9quipe de recherche dirig\u00e9e par Amy Welsh, Ph. D., de l&#039;Universit\u00e9 de Virginie-Occidentale, a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique adaptative de 16 populations reproductrices d&#039;esturgeons jaunes. La Ph. D., accompagn\u00e9e d&#039;\u00c9ric Normandeau et de Louis Bernatchez, tous deux de l&#039;Universit\u00e9 Laval, a analys\u00e9 les variations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques de ces populations \u00e0 l&#039;aide de polymorphismes d&#039;un seul nucl\u00e9otide (SNP) qui comprenaient des variations neutres et adaptatives. L&#039;\u00e9quipe a ensuite regroup\u00e9 les populations en fonction de leurs similitudes dans les traits adaptatifs afin d&#039;identifier des unit\u00e9s de gestion potentielles destin\u00e9es \u00e0 aider \u00e0 conserver le potentiel adaptatif de l&#039;esturgeon jaune.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"nectar_single_testimonial\" data-color=\"accent-color\" data-style=\"small_modern\"><div class=\"inner\"data-custom-color=\"true\" style=\"color: #000000;\"> <p><span class=\"open-quote\">\u201d<\/span>Un SNP est une variante g\u00e9nomique \u00e0 une seule position de base dans l&#039;ADN. Les SNP d&#039;un g\u00e9nome peuvent \u00eatre \u00e9tudi\u00e9s pour d\u00e9terminer si et comment ils influencent la sant\u00e9, la maladie et d&#039;autres caract\u00e9ristiques (NHGRI 2022). <\/p><span class=\"wrap\"><span>Institut national de recherche sur le g\u00e9nome humain (NHGRI)<\/span><span class=\"title\">Glossaire parlant des termes g\u00e9nomiques et g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/blockquote>\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element  vc_custom_1668716583101\" >\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t<h3>Principales conclusions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>L\u2019\u00e9quipe de recherche a d\u00e9couvert que les donn\u00e9es SNP offraient une r\u00e9solution bien sup\u00e9rieure et une puissance de test d\u2019attribution accrue par rapport aux microsatellites utilis\u00e9s dans certaines recherches g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques.<\/li>\n<li>L\u2019\u00e9quipe a propos\u00e9 sept unit\u00e9s de gestion raffin\u00e9es dans les Grands Lacs qui utilisent les donn\u00e9es SNP et la g\u00e9ographie du lieu de frai pour \u00e9clairer la s\u00e9lection de la population en vue de l\u2019empoissonnement par les gestionnaires des p\u00eaches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>R\u00e9sultats significatifs pour la recherche sur l&#039;esturgeon jaune<\/h3>\n<p>Les recherches financ\u00e9es par le GLFT font progresser les connaissances scientifiques sur l&#039;\u00e9cologie de l&#039;esturgeon jaune et le r\u00f4le de la g\u00e9nomique dans la conservation. Les analyses pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes de la structure de la population d&#039;esturgeon jaune \u00e9taient bas\u00e9es sur des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques neutres, qui suivent les r\u00f4les de la migration et de la d\u00e9rive g\u00e9n\u00e9tique pour d\u00e9terminer la structure de la population. L&#039;\u00e9quipe du Dr Welsh a am\u00e9lior\u00e9 la compr\u00e9hension de la fa\u00e7on dont la variation adaptative est distribu\u00e9e. De plus, les unit\u00e9s de gestion raffin\u00e9es propos\u00e9es par l&#039;\u00e9quipe, si elles sont mises en \u0153uvre, pourraient entra\u00eener la conservation du potentiel adaptatif des populations d&#039;esturgeon jaune, un objectif primordial de la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique de la conservation.<\/p>\n<h3>Spin-off de recherche<\/h3>\n<p>Une collaboration entre l&#039;\u00e9quipe de recherche et un autre chercheur soutenu par le GLFT, le Dr Wesley Larson, auparavant de l&#039;Universit\u00e9 du Wisconsin-Stevens Point et maintenant de la National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un panel compos\u00e9 de 258 SNP pour les futurs tests d&#039;attribution et l&#039;analyse de parent\u00e9 en utilisant les donn\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par ce projet.
