This request for proposals (RFP) will be used to disburse up to $750,000 in grants.\u00a0Proposals are due by Friday, February 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EST and must be submitted through the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.glft.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.glft.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1736536704283000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0wlufctn18El4O3TaMuAmf\">GLFT website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \" >\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t<p>The GLFT held a webinar with information for potential grantees on Thursday, January 23, at 2:00 p.m. EST. Watch the webinar if you weren&#8217;t able to join or need to reference something that was shared, you can watch <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/bNP3-geWGOw\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element  vc_custom_1736450843457\" >\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t<p>Grants awarded through this RFP are intended for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Protection, enhancement, and\/or restoration of valuable Great Lakes fisheries habitat that supports the long-term, sustainable, natural reproduction of species now supported by hatchery production or the rehabilitation of lake whitefish, lake trout, lake sturgeon, or other important Great Lakes fish populations.<\/li>\n<li>Restoration of Great Lakes wetlands.<\/li>\n<li>Removal of dams or barriers to restore fish passage (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/habitat_proection_and_restoration_proposals_policy_fishpassage_and_dammgmt_5-7-02.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.glft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/habitat_proection_and_restoration_proposals_policy_fishpassage_and_dammgmt_5-7-02.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1736536704283000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1JPlwckBICpdjYF_wDjyw4\">Policy on Funding Habitat Protection and Restoration Projects [Fish Passage and Other Dam Management]<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Project planning, including community engagement, engineering, and\/or design work, that is a necessary precursor to a project supporting one of the above goals.<\/li>\n<li>Field inventories that comprehensively identify road-stream crossings and other barriers at the watershed scale for watersheds identified as high priority in planning or other management documents. Inventory methods should follow the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/documents\/dnr\/Great_Lakes_Road_Stream_Crossing_Inventory_Instructions_419327_7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/documents\/dnr\/Great_Lakes_Road_Stream_Crossing_Inventory_Instructions_419327_7.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1736536704283000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0MyJi6Aqxu0GIgCGaHylDZ\">Great Lakes Road Stream Crossing Inventory Instructions<\/a>\u00a0to ensure that information is collected consistently among watersheds. Applicants seeking funding to conduct inventories should be well positioned to implement restoration plans based upon the results.<\/li>\n<li>Targeted acquisition of land or easements to protect essential habitat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \" >\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t<p>Due to limited funding, the GLFT will only consider project sites located:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Within the Lake Michigan basin<\/li>\n<li>In the state of Michigan within other Great Lakes basins (i.e., the Michigan shores of Lakes Erie, Huron, and Superior)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Priority will be given to projects focusing on Lake Michigan.
